Most visitors pass through the city on their route to the surrounding beaches of Uppuveli and Nilaveli, but the town has some charm, a lot of history, and an eclectic mix of people. Trincomalee's magnificent deep-water port has changed ownership seven times and is a rich source of history and culture.
